Funding Support

1. Funding Support to Branding Related Projects

Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (the BUD Fund)

To provide funding support to individual Hong Kong enterprises in undertaking projects to develop brands, upgrade and restructure their business operations and promote sales in the Mainland and FTA* markets, so as to enhance their competitiveness and facilitate their business development in the Mainland and FTA markets. The BUD Fund comprises two programmes:

Mainland Programme

FTA Programme

*FTA economies include the Mainland, ASEAN**, Australia, Chile, the four member states of the European Free Trade Association (i.e. Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland), Georgia, Macao and New Zealand.

**ASEAN comprises Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Loan Guarantee Scheme

Helps SMEs secure loans from participating lending institutions for acquiring business installations and equipment or as working capital.

SME Export Marketing Fund

Helps SMEs expand their business through participation in export promotion activities.

Trade and Industrial Organsiation Support Fund

Provides financial support to non-profit-distributing organisations to implement projects which aim at enhancing the competitiveness of non-listed Hong Kong enterprises in general or in specific sectors. It is a merger between the previous SME Development Fund (SDF) and the Organisation Support Programme (OSP) under the Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund).

2. Funding Support to Innovation and Technologies Related Projects

Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF)

Aims to increase the added value, productivity and competitiveness of our economic activities. The Government hopes that, through the ITF, Hong Kong companies could be encouraged and assisted to upgrade their technological level and introduce innovative ideas to their businesses.

Incubation Programmes

Provides custom-made incubation services ranging from 18 to 48 months for startups in different technology disciplines. Participants can enjoy subsidised office space and laboratory facilities in Hong Kong Science Park and a full range of value-added services including financial aid, technical assistance, market development and other supports.

Leading Enterprises Acceleration Programme (LEAP@HK)

Provides a full range of professional support service to high potential HKSTPC incubatees, graduates and partner companies to scale up their business regionally or globally.

Cyberport Creative Micro Fund

Encourages innovation and creativity, offering a grant to high potential digital tech start-up projects and business ideas.

Cyberport Incubation Programme

Supports entrepreneurs and start-ups with financial assistance and a range of business and professional services to accelerate their growth .

Cyberport Accelerator Support Programme

Prepares Cyberport incubatees and alumni for international markets and investors, providing financial assistance to each successful applicant.

3. Funding Support to Design Related Projects

CreateSmart Initiative

Provides financial support to initiatives that are conducive to the development and promotion of creative industries in Hong Kong, including programmes for young creative talent to undertake overseas work attachments and study; programmes for creative SMEs and creative talent to participate in Mainland and overseas exhibitions and competitions; incubation programmes for emerging designers; and organization of signature events, competitions/awards, exhibitions, seminars, workshops etc. to promote Hong Kong as Asia’s creative capital.

Design Incubation Programme (DIP)

Aims to nurture design start-ups at the early stage of their business development, with hardware and software support.
